Cars in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then found numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.

An important political figure said the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
